Professional Profile

Mr. Muffler is currently a full time attorney in private practice handling corporate civil litigation and business transactions in the tri-county area.  He has been a member of the Florida Bar for over 13 years.  He graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University’s School of Law with honors in 1993.   He also was conferred a second law degree in international law (LL.M.-Master of International Laws) from University of Miami’s School of Law in 1995.  His undergraduate degree is in Administration of Justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, with a minor in legal studies.  He is a member of the Florida Bar's International Law Section.  Mr. Muffler's current case load includes ongoing representation of local and foreign business entities in complex commercial transactions, land acquisitions and litigation concerning contract disputes, employer/employee relations, landlord/tenant actions, UCC & insurance issues and disputes among shareholders/officers/directors over corporate assets and dealings.  He appears in Broward County courthouse hearings on a regular basis along with the negotiating complex commercial contracts on a daily basis.  His law firm forms Florida business entities on a monthly basis for clients and participates in the filing and prosecuting trademark and copyright applications on a federal and state level.   Mr. Muffler is the Chairmen of the Fort Lauderdale Citizens Police Review Board which investigates complaints against Fort Lauderdale Police Officers and reviews the Fort Lauderdale Police’s Internal Affairs Department Findings and Reports.   This board recommends a course of action to the Fort Lauderdale City Manager relative to the subject police officer in light of the law and Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s ethical codes and/or standard operating procedures.

 Mr. Muffler formerly held a position as a legal aid to The Florida Bar assisting in the investigation and prosecution of cases against attorneys charged with ethical violations or criminal acts.   Mr. Muffler was periodically appointed by the courts as a Special Public Defender for Broward County from 1993-1998.  

Mr. Muffler is currently an adjunct professor teaching MBA students their required basic corporate law and ethics class for Nova Southeastern University at locations in Florida, Iowa, Georgia and has taught overseas in the countries of Panama, Bahamas and Jamaica on a continuous basis.  He also teaches these classes on-line and Internet Law on-line for Nova Southeastern University MBA Department as well as teaching International Business Law to the Doctoral Students at Nova Southeastern University.   Mr. Muffler is also a faculty member at University of Phoenix teaching various business law and criminal justice classes on the undergraduate and graduate levels.   Periodically, Mr. Muffler is a guest speaker at various executive business functions around the South Florida area.  

Prior to the above activities, Mr. Muffler was a computer instructor at Nova Law Center and University of Miami School of Law teaching law students computerized legal research.  Mr. Muffler is a former Adjunct Professor at St. Thomas University who taught business law and international business law courses to undergraduates.   He has been teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in some capacity for the last 14 years.  Mr. Muffler’s publications include articles published in legal journals concerning the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the influences of the Russian Mafia on international business.  He has written a standard operating procedure for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement which was ultimately adopted for the entire State of Florida as an instructional police manual.
